Rediscovering the Reformation Conference 2025

Here we, the Church, stand...

Since 2017, a growing number of faithful churches in western mid-Vermont have been gathering together to celebrate the great truths of the Protestant Reformation. Our 2025 Reformation Conference will be held October 24-25, and will be a celebration of the Reformation’s view on Work!

We live in a culture where hard work is seen as a necessary evil. People value entertainment and leisure more highly than work and then are surprised when their lives lack meaning and purpose. Christians are created to worship God through their work, and Jesus Christ redeemed his people so that they would produce Good Works. When God redeems his people, he redeems their work as well with transformed hearts and minds and with humble and obedient spirit. Every time we celebrate the Lord’s Table, we are celebrating the Work of Jesus Christ. The Passion Week we’ve all recently celebrated is about Jesus laboring to defeat sin and death in his body and blood, not just in Spirit. Far from being a distraction, our work is where we live out our faith, whether it is at our job, or the church, or our family, competitive play, or even our spiritual battles.

The Reformers recognized work as an essential element of the Christian life, with John Calvin writing “Each individual has his own kind of living assigned to him by the Lord as a sort of sentry post so that he may not heedlessly wander about through life.” in his Institutes of the Christian Religion.

Our 2025 conference will reflect on the gift of work, encouraging the church with the following topics:

  • Creation – God’s example & Theology in Genesis

  • Craftsmanship – The Dignity and Joy of Good Work

  • Covenant – The building of a Family culture of Diligence and Work

  • Cultivation – The Spiritual Work of a Christian (Spiritual formation/disciplines)

  • Conduct – Christian Duty and Ethics

  • Contentment – Satisfaction and Joy in your God-given Life

We pray that you will be able to join us!

AS ALWAYS, Admission is free.

What to expect...

Biblical Expository Preaching

Our primary means of displaying the glory of Christ as our supreme treasure is Biblical exposition of the text of Scripture. For this reason, we have prepared a series of sermons that will be preached throughout the course of the conference.

Christ-Exalting Worship

The worship at the conference includes a broad span of hymns throughout church history: both modern hymns and also hymns that have endured through the ages. Additionally, we offer moments of sincere reflection on a Biblical text or truth through the inclusion of choral art pieces.

Fervent Pastoral Scholarship

The commitment of the pastors involved includes a dedicated effort to write well-researched articles that are an offering of genuine scholarship as well as a humble submission to the accountability of their fellow pastors. All articles and submissions are collectively printed in our conference booklet which is secured by permission for use in the local church.

It is no ordinary dignity that is ascribed to
the church when it is called the pillar and ground of the truth. For what higher terms could he have used to describe it?
— John Calvin
